ROCK HILL, S.C. — A grandmother was released from the hospital after a 2-year-old boy shot her in the back, according to the Rock Hill Police Department.

Police originally told WSOC that the child was 4 years old and the woman was not the grandmother, but updated their information Monday afternoon.

The 40-year-old grandmother and the child were in the woman’s sister’s car at 1:24 p.m. Sunday at Ogden Road and Heckle Boulevard in Rock Hill. The grandmother’s sister’s .357 revolver was in a pouch on the back of the front passenger seat in the car. The boy’s great aunt was driving the car.

The great aunt of the woman who was shot told WSOC the woman is out of hospital and OK, but did not make any further comments.
