ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, N.C. — Three people were injured in a head-on collision on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened at about 4:40 p.m. on Business 220 near Mayo River State Park.

Authorities on the scene told FOX8’s Chad Tucker a teen male driving a red passenger car south on Business 220 near Mayodan went left of center and hit a tan Honda van head on.

A woman and small child were taken to Cone Hospital in Greensboro. The woman had serious injuries and the child appeared to be OK, authorities said.

The teen driver of the passenger car was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities are not releasing the names of any of the crash victims at this time.
