3 charged in armed robbery of Eden convenience store

EDEN, N.C. — Deputies with the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, working in conjunction with the Eden Police Department, arrested three suspects in connection to Sunday’s armed robbery at an Eden convenience store.

Ryan Joseph Ingle, 18; DaShaun Jamark Leake, 19; and James William Johnson, 23, were each charged with felonious robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The three men allegedly robbed the Eden Variety Mart at gunpoint around 1:45 p.m.

Witnesses told deputies the men fled the scene in a red-colored Pontiac Grand Am.

Deputies stopped the suspects in a vehicle that matched that description at the Eden Mall and found evidence linking the them to the armed robbery.

All three are being held in the Rockingham County Jail under a $1 million bond. They are expected to appear in court on Oct. 12.
