MIAMI — Detectives raiding the home of a suspected marijuana trafficker discovered at least $24 million in cash stashed in an attic inside dozens of 5-gallon Home Depot-brand buckets, according to the Miami Herald.
The money — in bundles of $100 bills — was found inside a secret compartment in the attic of the Miami Lakes home. It’s the largest cash seizure in the police department’s history, the Miami Herald reported.
Luis Hernandez-Gonzalez, 44, was arrested on a slew of charges including money laundering, marijuana trafficking and possession of a firearm while committing a felony.
His sister, Salma Hernandez, was also arrested.
