SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. — A 22-year-old Missouri man who works at an area supermarket says he won $1 million because he screwed up at work.

Tyler Nilges accidentally printed the Quick Pick ticket for a customer who was buying a Show Me Cash, a Lotto and a Mega Million ticket. He held onto the ticket, thinking he’d sell it by the end of his shift.

So when that never happened, he bought it himself.

“I thought, ‘Ok, it’s just going to mess up my count.’ So I bought the ticket,” Nilges told lottery officials.

Tyler Nilges won the million in the Monopoly Millionaires’ Club drawing on Nov. 7.

His plans for the money: attend nursing school and buy a “hot rod.”
