WILMINGTON, N.C. — Two construction workers in Wilmington were electrocuted Monday, according to WECT.

Crews responded to the 500 block of Dogwood Lane just before 8 a.m.

Firefighters found that a track hoe had hit a power line. Duke Energy officials were called to de-energize the line.

Two construction workers nearby were shocked and later died.

WECT reported that the track hoe operator was not injured during the incident.

A spokeswoman for the city of Wilmington said the workers were employees of East Coast Contracting.

The police department is investigating the incident.
