MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Two Mooresville men were arrested on drug trafficking charges Monday.
After an investigation that lasted nearly seven months, Ibn Khalif Thompson, 28, and Christian Raenard Carter, 22, were taken into custody on drug trafficking charges.
The investigation began in November 2014 after Rowan County investigators received a tip that Thompson was trafficking opioid pain medication.
Investigators purchased oxycodone and hydrocodone tablets from Thompson on Nov. 13, 2014; Dec. 3, 2014; May 21, 2015; and June 29, 2015.
Thompson now faces nine counts of trafficking opium/heroin and multiple other charges related to possessing and selling opium/heroin.
Carter was charged with one count of conspiracy to traffick opium/heroin.
Thompson was placed under a $250,000 secured bond while Carter’s bond was set at $25,000.
The investigation is ongoing and other arrests are possible.
