WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police have charged two men in connection with a large marijuana growing operation in Winston-Salem.
Officers conducted a drug investigation at 355 Merrel Drive which led to the execution of a search warrant at the location.
Inside the residence, officers found 372 juvenile marijuana plants, 2,440 grams of marijuana worth $17,448, indoor growing equipment, $9,950 in U.S. currency, a 9mm handgun and ammunition, a ballistic vest and various electronic devices.
Van Mahn Tran, 57, of Tacoma, Wash., and Kkanh Trung Tran, 28, of Winston-Salem, both face numerous drug charges. Kkanh Tran also faces one charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Both were placed in the Forsyth County Detention Center. Van Tran is being held under a $65,000 secured bond. Kkanh Tran is being held under a $55,000 secured bond.
