WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Two people accused of robbing a Winston-Salem business were arrested after police said they caught them running out of the store.

Byron Clay Scott, 22, and Rakie Lamont Badger, 20, both of Winston-Salem, allegedly robbed the Alpha Market at 1101 S. Broad St. around 9:27 p.m. Friday.

Winston-Salem police said an officer on patrol saw the suspects running from the business and started chasing them on foot.

Police said the suspects were eventually taken into custody and were found with the money they allegedly stole.

Police said an employee at the business was assaulted with a metal pole during the robbery. He was treated and released from Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Authorities said charges are pending against the suspects and the stolen money has since been recovered.
