LINVILLE, N.C. — A 13-year employee was named the new executive director of the nonprofit that runs Grandfather Mountain, according to WRAL.
Jesse Pope Jr. was named the director on Monday.
Jim Morton, chairman of the Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation Board, said Pope has been with the park’s naturalist program for six years.
Pope was previously the assistant vice president and director of education and natural resources for the foundation.
Morton told WRAL that Pope has matured within the organization.
