11-year-old struck by vehicle in Davidson County

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C.–An 11-year-old Davidson County boy was taken to the hospital Friday after he was struck by a car while he was riding his bike.

The accident happened just after 5:30 p.m. at Arnold Rd. near Leonard Rd. in Davidson Count when the boy was riding his bike on the wrong side of the road. The driver of the car swerved in an attempt to avoid hitting him, but struck him with the right fender of his vehicle, according to State Highway Patrol Trooper J.J. Sherrill.

The child was taken to Baptist Hospital, where he was undergoing surgery on Friday night. The extent of his injuries is unknown.

There will be no citations issued.
