GREENSBORO, N.C. — A pit bull that was photographed by the News & Record in 2014 surrounded by vultures has spent the last year in a new home and is loving life.

Lilo was only 6 to 8 months old when people reported seeing the puppy chained to a tree in the yard of a house in the 2800 block of Phillips Avenue on Dec. 30, 2014.

Keana Lynch, 28, and Travis Henley, 30, of Stokesdale, took in Lilo through the Merit Pit Bull Foundation as a foster dog. However, it became apparent fairly early on that Lilo would be staying with them permanently, Lynch said.
