Teen dead, another hurt in single-car wreck in Guilford Co.

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — A teenager is dead and another was seriously hurt in a single-car wreck on Highway 220 Monday afternoon.

Sierra Pegram, 17, of Climax, was killed in the wreck around 1:20 p.m. between Highway 62 and the Guilford County line, troopers said.

Alexander Hedrick, 19, of Randleman, was taken to Moses Cone Hospital, where he is in serious condition.

Hedrick was driving southbound in a 2003 Honda Accord when for some reason the car ran off the right side of the road and hit a tree, troopers said.

The exact cause of the wreck is still under investigation.
