1 arrested in Burlington apartment shooting

BURLINGTON, N.C. — The Burlington Police Department made an arrest Monday afternoon in connection with a shootout that occurred on July 12 at Oak Pointe Apartments.

Cash McCaster, 22, is charged with possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, fleeing to elude officers and discharging a firearm.

Authorities have also identified another suspect in the investigation as 52-year-old Dennis Lee Mebane.

He is wanted in reference to two counts of discharging a firearm into occupied property, possession of a firearm by a felon and injury to real property after the shootout.

No injuries were reported.

There have been more than 50 shooting incidents in Burlington since January.
