The government tracks the U.S. cheese supply and according to numbers, the stockpile is larger than ever.

The Washington Post reported that 1.39 billion pounds of cheese is stocked in American warehouses, a six percent increase over last year.

Analysts attribute the rise to a decreased consumer demand in dairy milk.

Trade tensions aren’t helping either with some countries buying cheese elsewhere.
