Hallways will be bustling with students very soon.

In Tuesday's Mommy Matters, James Cole Jr., United States deputy Secretary of Education, stopped by to talk with FOX8's Melissa Painter about the issue of school absences.

"Parents may not know that missing just two days per month can add up to chronic absenteeism," he said.

He says that chronic absenteeism can lower the educational opportunities for students.
