If you haven't heard Weaver Academy's choir, you have been missing out.

Being involved in the choir has helped 18-year-old Jalen Hicks develop as a leader and grow as a person.

Hicks has  studied choral music at The Governor's School of North Carolina, a program for intellectually gifted high school students.

He will play the lead role, Prince Topher, in the school's production of "Cinderella" beginning April 14.

Hicks says he's already been accepted at Appalachian State, Greensboro College, Wingate University and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He's still waiting to hear from his top choice, Berklee College of Music.
