GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Dudley High School has had plenty of notoriety for its accomplishments in athletics.

But, like most high schools, the academic stars fly a little more under the radar.

The school has a chance to change that with the team it is sending -- again -- to the Shell Eco-Marathon. That’s a contest which pits teams from around the hemisphere (many of them professionals or college students) against each other to see which one can produce a car that goes the furthest on a gallon of gas. Dudley doesn’t have the big budgets of some of the major universities, but they very much hold their own.

This year’s competition is in Detroit, April 9-11, and in this edition of the Buckley Report, you’ll see what the Dudley students are getting out of this, whether they come home with a trophy or not.
