FOX8 WGHP’s Tom Britt is a meteorologist with the FOX8 Max Weather Center. He was a full-time member of the weather team until 2016. Now, he returns regularly to fill in as needed.

Tom Britt entered broadcasting in 1966 while a freshman at East Carolina University. Originally, Tom considered broadcasting only as a way to finance his education, and continued in radio, TV and cable through graduate school at UNC Chapel Hill.

Tom holds a BA and MA in Anthropology, an AA in Mental Health Technology and is pursuing his certification in Meteorology. Tom is also a freelance journalist and writer. For many years, he produced an award-winning weekly radio feature for Duke University Medical Center that was carried on many stations and networks around the world, including the BBC.

Tom came to FOX8 from WTVD in Raleigh-Durham in 1999 and officially retired from his full-time weather spot in 2016, but he has continued as part of the FOX8 weather team and fills in whenever he is needed.

In his spare time now, Tom plays a lot of golf and spends time with his first love: radio. He is part of the morning show for Maverick Radio in Burlington. Tom also supplies weather forecasts throughout the day for Maverick Radio and Hope radio in Burlington and for Rebel radio in High Point.
