Paul Choate joined the FOX8 family as a web producer in October 2013.

He came to FOX8 from High Country Press, a newspaper in Boone where he worked first as a general assignment reporter and later as the managing editor.

Originally from the small mountain town of Sparta, Paul has called North Carolina “home” his entire life and loves living in the Piedmont Triad.

Paul is a graduate of Appalachian State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

When he is not finding and creating content for MyFOX8.com and our social media platforms, Paul is probably cheering on his beloved App State Mountaineers, Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Braves.

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. — James Borrego will be the next head coach of the Charlotte Hornets, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports. Borrego has been an assistant coach under Gregg Popovich with the San Antonio Spurs since 2015. Wojnarowski reports that Borrego will sign a four-year agreement with the Hornets. Head coach Steve Clifford was fired on April 13 after five seasons with the Hornets. The Hornets finished the 2017-18 season with a 36-46 record and have not reached the playoffs since 2016.

  • Wake Forest defeats Texas A&M 55-52 to win Belk Bowl

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Wake Forest defeated Texas A&M 55-52 on Friday at Bank of America Stadium to win the Belk Bowl. The Demon Deacons found themselves down 52-48 late in the game but junior running back Matt Colburn ran the ball in for a touchdown with 2:18 left in the game.
