Melissa Painter loves starting her day early with you on the FOX8 Morning News!

She grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and is a graduate of Wake Forest University. She’s regularly back on campus for class, but this time she’s the professor! Melissa is an adjunct professor of the practice at Wake Forest. She teaches broadcast journalism in the Department of Communication.

Before making her way back to North Carolina, Melissa worked as an anchor/reporter at WBBH in Fort Myers, Florida, and at WBKO in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She was also an associate producer at WTVF in Nashville.

While Melissa was in college, you may have seen her on Cable 2, the education station for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools.

Melissa lives with her husband and three daughters. She enjoys volunteering her time in our community.

She serves on the advisory board for the Salvation Army of Winston-Salem. She has also served on the board of directors for the High Point Arts Council, Open Door Ministries and the High Point Community Foundation.

Melissa enjoyed volunteering in classrooms through Communities in Schools. She’s also a room parent at her daughters’ school.
