GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. -- Sitting side-by-side, Miranda Curtis’s friends and family members wiped away tears, sharing memories of the 37-year-old and her two daughters.

Family members say Curtis, and two of her daughters, 8-year-old Ariyana and 14-year-old Zyilyan, were killed in a fiery wreck on U.S. 421 Wednesday morning.

China Curtis, 22, lost her mother and two siblings in the crash, just one year after losing her father.

“My mom would do anything for me. There’s never a time I couldn’t call her, she would do anything for me, and I loved those girls like they were my own,” she said tearfully.

China Curtis said her two younger sisters were talkative and outgoing.

“It hurts to know that they’re not here anymore because I love them so much and I would do anything for them,” she said.

Marquise Grizzle, Miranda Curtis’s friend, said he was talking to the 37-year-old on the phone when she told him her Jeep was overheating.

“One second they were on the phone, and it was just regular conversation then it was nothing,” he said. “[I] couldn’t get them to respond, that’s what hurts the worst. I was on my way, I was right there, I was about to go get them.”

Grizzle rushed down 421, only to find what was left of Curtis’ SUV.

Family members believe China’s dog, Jazzy was also in the SUV with the family. Norman believes the dog was also killed in the fire.

Amber Leversey, Miranda’s best friend, said loved ones are coming together to support China.

“I know if the roles were reversed, Miranda would be there for my kids and so I wanna make sure that I’m here for hers,” she said.

Family members plan to hold a small ceremony at the crash site on Friday afternoon.
