Man killed in High Point shooting identified

HIGH POINT, N.C. — A man is dead after a shooting in High Point on Tuesday night.

At about 8:39 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a report of about 10 shots fired on Filbert Place, near Pershing Street.

One of the callers was the victim, 31-year-old William L. Mcinnis, of High Point, who police found suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

He was taken to a hospital in Winston-Salem where he later died.

Police believe there was a brief conversation between the shooter and the victim in the moments leading up to the gunshots.

High Point police have not released any suspect information.
