Body found in Winston-Salem hotel parking lot

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Police are piecing together what happened after a body was found early Friday morning in a hotel parking lot.

While little information has been released, officials confirmed they are investigating this case as a homicide.

Officials responded to the Travelers Inn in Winston-Salem at about 1:10 a.m. regarding a report of a body found, according to police.

Police reported the victim was a man and believe they know his identity. They are waiting to notify the family before releasing his name.

There was no evidence of gunfire, according to officials. Police have not commented on how the man may have died.

Investigators believe this was an assault that happened at the site where the body was found.

Police have no suspects at this time.

The inn is located at 5906 University Parkway.
