Police investigate murder of 28-year-old man shot and killed in Asheboro

ASHEBORO, N.C. – Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in Asheboro on Sunday afternoon.

Nicholas B. Austin, 28, of Asheboro, was found lying on Loach Street near Martin Luther King Drive shortly after 4 p.m. when police responded to a shooting call there.

Emergency workers declared Austin dead at the scene. Police have not released details about any possible suspects or a motive.

Authorities had an area near Martin Luther King Drive and Loach Street taped off Sunday evening as crews investigated.
