2.6 magnitude earthquake reported in Wilkes County

The U.S. Geological Survey said a small earthquake hit part of Wilkes County early Sunday night, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.

The survey reported this as a 2.6 magnitude earthquake and that it happened close to 7 p.m. Sunday night. The earthquake was less than a mile northeast from Hays on Sawyer Road in Wilkes County.

The earthquake was recorded at a depth of 2.7 miles.

There were no immediate reports of any damage.
