Soldier accused of shooting, killing another soldier at home in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A U.S. Army soldier is accused of shooting and killing another soldier at a home in Fayetteville after a fight.

The Fayetteville Observer reported that Mark Danial Leshikar was pronounced dead after authorities arrived on the scene shortly after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The suspect and the victim were both soldiers serving with U.S. Army Special Operations Command, according to the paper, citing Lt. Col. Robert Bockholt, a spokesman for the command.

Officials have not released the name of the suspect or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The victim’s body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Raleigh for an autopsy.
