Jeffrey Len Carlyle, 56.

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. — A 56-year-old North Carolina man confessed to fatally shooting another man, allegedly telling authorities he “enjoyed it,” according to WECT.

At about 8 p.m. on Nov. 3, a neighbor found Carl Edward Robinson suffering from a gunshot wound on the front porch of his Supply home. He was pronounced dead while on his way to the hospital.

Following an interview with investigators, Robinson’s former girlfriend identified Jeffrey Len Carlyle as a suspect.

After making contact with Carlyle, who voluntarily spoke with investigators without an attorney, he admitted to shooting Robinson.

Carlyle told investigators he had been thinking about shooting Robinson for several months after his health started declining. He said he then took his shotgun, drove to Robinson’s house, walked up to the front door and shot him.

“Mr. Robinson asked Carlyle ‘what’s up buddy’ and he replied ‘I got something for you,’” an affidavit read. “Mr. Robinson asked ‘what do you have for me’ and Carlyle replied, ‘that’ and shot Mr. Robinson. Carlyle stated, ‘I shot him. I enjoyed it. I damn sure did.’”

Carlyle has been charged with murder. He is behind bars at the Brunswick Detention Center without bail.
