GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Playing the role of Santa's helper, former North Carolina Tar Heel and current Greensboro Swarm player Marcus Paige walked into DICK's Sporting Goods with some of his teammates to give back to several local kids.
The basketball players are helping 10 kids from the Boy's and Girl's Club on a shopping spree.
The kids were excited and many treated the spree like a game -- trying to get the best stuff but while staying within the budgeted money limit. The players also had a blast as it brought back their own childhood Christmas memories.
"I remember either going to the store and asking for everything or circling things in the catalog, "said Paige. "That's what you did back in the day."
The players have a dream of landing an NBA job. Paige even got a taste of that playing in one game with the Charlotte Hornets.
But on this day, they invested in the kids and tried to make it a shopping day they will remember for a long time.
