Disabled woman found dead inside Greensboro home after house fire identified

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The disabled woman found dead inside a home in Greensboro after a house fire Monday morning has been identified, according to Greensboro police.

The fire happened at a home in the 4000 block of Walker Avenue. The call came in at about 11:26 a.m. and the fire was under control by 12:10 p.m.

The woman has been identified as 81-year-old Carmen Callahan Wood. The manner of her death is listed as inconclusive.

Dwayne Church with the Greensboro Fire Department said the woman’s husband was not home at the time of the fire.
