Name change for Piedmont Triad International Airport could be in the works
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Piedmont Triad International Airport may soon be in for a name change.
As part of an initiative to update and refresh the airport, community leaders have been discussing a possible name change for a number of months, said Nido Qubein, co-chairman of the Piedmont Triad Partnership economic development agency and president of High Point University.
“As co-chair of the Piedmont Triad Partnership, I have been in meetings discussing how the (Piedmont Triad) Airport Authority wants to advance its position and a name change has certainly been a part of it,” he said Monday.
“I’m for anything that makes this area better and more progressive and the airport has had a successful run,” Qubein said.
