1 dead, 6 taken to the hospital after wreck on I-85 in Davidson County

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. – One person is dead and six others were taken to hospitals after a crash on Interstate 85 in Davidson County on Sunday.

Three vehicles were involved in the wreck on I-85 near mile marker 89, just south of Old Linwood Road in Davidson County on Sunday afternoon.

Authorities have not released the names of the victims.

Sgt. Comer with Highway Patrol said a pickup truck was traveling southbound on Interstate 85 and crossed into a northbound lane and collided with at least one other vehicle. A third vehicle was also involved.

One person died at the scene and another was airlifted to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in critical condition, according to Comer.

Four other people were taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center by an ambulance and are in serious condition.

One other person was taken to a hospital in Davidson County to be evaluated.

A dog also died in the crash.
