1 shot in back while fleeing from robbery in Burlington

BURLINGTON, N.C. — Police are investigating after one person was shot in the back during a robbery early Tuesday morning.

At about 1:42 a.m., police received reports of a shooting victim at Alamance Regional Medical Center, according to a news release. After an investigation, police discovered that two males were walking to Walmart on South Graham-Hopedale Road when they were approached by two men who asked for their wallets and phones. During the robbery, one victim tried to run away and was shot in the back.

There was a third witness or potential suspect, police say. A woman was walking with the suspects just before the robbery took place.

The shooting victim is in stable condition and the investigation is ongoing.
