BURLINGTON, N.C. – An Army soldier gave his mother an early Christmas gift with a surprise visit in Burlington.

Nathan Hendrix surprised his mom Sherri recently when she was visiting Santa Claus at the Holly Hill Mall.

A video posted to Facebook captures the emotional moment and shows Nathan surprising her and then giving her a hug.

“It was the best,” Sherri Hendrix told FOX8. “It was the most memorable Christmas gift.”

Nathan Hendrix will be in town until January. It’s his first time home in more than a year, according to his mother.

Sherri Hendrix said he joined the Army in October, 2015 and has since been at the Fort Drum, N.Y. military reservation.
