HIGH POINT, N.C. — Students were checked out by EMS after an unidentified substance was sprayed in a Guilford County classroom.

The incident happened at Southwest Guilford Middle School on Thursday at about 2:15 p.m. during a class change.

According to Guilford County Schools spokesperson Nora Murray, 50 students were checked out by EMS after the unidentified substance was released in the air.

After being checked out, six students still were not feeling well and went home with their parents.

Police and firefighters are investigating what the substance was and how it happened.
