MACCLENNY, Fla. — A Florida boy gave up birthday gifts to help his local animal shelter, according to WJAX.

Brantley turned 6 on Friday and, instead of birthday gifts, he asked everyone coming to his party to bring supplies for the Baker County, Florida, animal shelter.

Brantley’s mom, Tiffany Davis, said her son grew up around rescue animals.

Davis said her son wants to continue to get donations for the shelter in lieu of birthday gifts in the years to come.

“He’s an amazing kid. He’s also growing his hair to donate it,” Davis told WJAX. “He gets made fun of constantly for it but he refuses to cut it until it’s long enough. He’s the sweetest soul.”
