WILLIAMSTON, N.C. — The bodies of a North Carolina mother and her teenage daughter were found in a well, several days after they were reported missing.

The bodies of 40-year-old Dawn Ward and 14-year-old Taylor Carroll were discovered Thursday afternoon in a well in Williamston, North Carolina, WSOC reports.

On Tuesday, deputies said they believed the pair was missing after evidence surfaced that caused safety and welfare concerns, according to WNCT.

Ward’s mother was the last person to see the victims and she told officials that she saw a broken window in her daughter’s mobile home and knew something was wrong.

On Thursday, the bodies were discovered.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine how they died.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
