Party Rock Fire officially 100% contained

LAKE LURE, N.C. — As firefighters in North Carolina race towards the finish line, the Party Rock Fire near Lake Lure is 100 percent contained, officials say.

Oregon’s incident management team, who had been tasked with helping contained the fire, will continue to patrol the fire for several more weeks.

“We are pleased to be at a point where we can release firefighters to go back to their homes and return a fully contained fire back to the home district”, said Incident Commander Link Smith. “We would like to express our gratitude to the community for supporting the responders and entrusting us to contain the fire.”

In a press release from Party Rock Fire Information, firefighters gave their thanks to the community and citizens of North Carolina for their support during the process.

As of Tuesday morning, the Maple Springs Fire has burned 7,788 acres and is 78 percent contained, the Boteler Fire 9,036 and the Tellico Fire 13,874. The Boteler fire is 85 percent contained while the Tellico Fire is 95 percent.
