WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Winston-Salem police are investigating after someone damaged multiple vehicles with a large piece of concrete at the Pine Valley Apartments complex in Winston-Salem late Friday night.

Residents reported hearing noises outside and saw the suspect kicking vehicles and smashing windshields with the slab of concrete, police say.

The report says residents ran outside to chase the suspect, as he ran to a 1998 Silver Dodge Caravan with (NC plate PDX-4742) parked nearby.

Neighbors and witnesses say he then jumped into the stolen vehicle and took off. The car's owner, who lives at the complex, had the car running to keep it warm. Police have not found the vehicle.

Thirteen vehicles were damaged and the investigation is ongoing.
