Rockingham Co. Detectives investigating homicide near Eden

EDEN, N.C. – Detectives are investigating a homicide that started as a wrecked van call on Harrington Hwy. near the NC14 intersection in Eden early Sunday morning.

When deputies and first responders arrived they located a man suffering from a gunshot wound a short distance from the van, according to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office.

The man was transported to Morehead Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased, authorities said.

The name of the man has not been released at this time.

The Sheriff’s Office said that Eden Police and North Carolina State Highway Patrol were assisting the on the investigation.
