Police investigate 2 overnight shootings in Winston-Salem

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Police are investigating two shootings in Winston-Salem early Wednesday morning.

The first incident occurred at the intersection of Carver School Road and Lansing Drive. Officers responded to a shots fired call and found a 36-year-old Confucious Ledbell Patterson inside a vehicle. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center hospital and is in surgery.

Around the same time, police received a call of another male who was dropped off at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds. Upon investigation, he was identified as 28-year-old Ricardo Kentrell Coles.

Police believe the two victims are connected to the same incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
