Owners estimate 12k chickens dead after large fire in Yadkin County

HAMPTONVILLE, N.C. – About 12,000 chickens are dead after a multiple-alarm chicken house fire in Yadkin County, according to the owners of the chicken house.

Authorities responded shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday to the scene at 1432 Johnson Branch Road in Hamptonville.

Every fire crew in Yadkin County is assisting, according to Keith Vestal, the Yadkin County EMS director.

There is no current word on a cause or any possible injuries.
