OPELIKA, Ala. — An Alabama mother was arrested after she allegedly locked her 5-year-old twins in a closet to go clubbing with her girlfriend.

On Oct. 28, deputies received a call from concerned citizens after the twin boys knocked on their door, begging for food. The caller said the children were dirty and unsupervised.

Deputies went to the trailer where the boys lived and found no adults there. After further investigation, they concluded the children had been locked in the closet by their mother, 22-year-old Jasmine Nicole Clark.

They were later taken to the hospital for treatment, and examinations showed that they had multiple scratches and bruises on their body, according to WTMV. Investigators said Clark and her girlfriend Brittney Lata Menefield, 25, abused the boys and left them without a bed to sleep in each night.

Clark is charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, while Menefield is charged with two counts of aggravated child abuse.

Both are behind bars.
