REIDSVILLE, N.C. — A Summerfield man and registered sex offender was arrested Saturday at an elementary school fall festival, according to a news release.

Christopher Dale Roberts, 38, of 353 Knight Rd. in Summerfield, was charged with felony “sex offender on/near child premise.”

On Saturday, Deputy E. B. Wilson received information that Roberts was at Wentworth Elementary School for their annual Fall Festival and was a registered sex offender. Roberts was approached by Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page and Deputy Wilson after being found on the premise of Wentworth.

Roberts was convicted in 2001 of indecent liberty with a minor.

After confirming that Roberts was on the North Carolina Sex Offender Registry, he was taken into custody and placed in the Rockingham County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
