Randolph County man accused of murdering father during altercation

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — A Randolph County man is accused of murdering his father during an altercation.

Jerry Alson Manns, 56, is charged with murder, according to a news release from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

On Sunday, Randolph County sheriff’s deputies responded to 3236 Belo Rush Drive, which is in Randolph County with a High Point postal address, in reference to a possible homicide at the residence.

Upon arrival, deputies located at 79-year-old Garland Lee Manns, of the residence, deceased. Jerry Manns lived at the residence with his father, the release said.

Manns told deputies he and his father had an altercation Tuesday that resulted in his father’s death.

Deputies said Garland Manns’ body had several stab wounds and that those are the probable cause of death. The body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.

Manns was placed in the Randolph County Jail where he is being held with no bond allowed.
