Winston-Salem man, 31, dies after being ejected from motorcycle

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A 31-year-old Winston-Salem man has died after police said he was ejected from his motorcycle.

Oscar Alejandro Pinzon died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, according to Winston-Salem police.

Police said it happened as the victim was driving a 2015 Yamaha motorcycle in the 2500 block of South Stratford Road shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday.

Pinzon went off the right side of the road and was ejected, according to police. Police have not said what caused the crash. Nobody else was hurt. Pinzon was the only person on the motorcycle.

South Stratford Road between Kimwell Drive and Clemmonsville Road was closed for about five hours, but has since reopened.

The crash resulted in the 17th fatality for Winston-Salem in 2016 as compared to 20 at this time in 2015, according to a police press release.

Police said in a statement that the Winston-Salem Police Department’s Traffic Enforcement Unit was notified and assumed the investigation.
