THOMASVILLE, N.C. -- Police evacuated a Walgreens in Thomasville on Saturday to investigate a report of a suspicious package – but it turned out to be a vacuum that was shipped to the store.

Police and firefighters in Thomasville responded to the Walgreens at 1015 Randolph St. shortly before 10 a.m. in reference to the incident.

The store was evacuated and a portion of Randolph Street had been closed as a precaution.

The Winston-Salem Bomb Squad arrived and determined that the “suspicious package” was a suitcase with a vacuum that was sent to the store.

Employees said they were not expected a package from out of state. An “all clear” was given at about 1 p.m.
