Couple arrested in Lexington after smoking marijuana with 18-month-old child in car

LEXINGTON, N.C. — A Linwood couple was arrested Tuesday after police say they were caught smoking marijuana with their 18-month-old child in the car.

The Davidson County Sheriff’s were conducting an investigation at 441 Becks Church Rd. in Lexington in reference to a suspicious vehicle. During the investigation, Annie Della Renee Welch and Anthony Vincent Caffey, both of Linwood, were found to have been in possession of marijuana paraphernalia and to have smoked marijuana and synthetic marijuana with their 18-month-old in the vehicle.

Welch and Caffey were arrested on scene. They were each charged with misdemeanor child abuse and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. Their court date is set for Nov. 7 and they each received a $1,000 secured bond.
