HAZELWOOD, Mo. -- A 17-year-old Wisconsin teen is facing charges after his vehicle crashed into a crowd of people at a homecoming parade Saturday morning.

KMOV reports nine people were taken to the hospital due to the incident.

"I heard tires squealing and a small crash. Then I heard people screaming," said parade attendee Susan Strebeck "The girl was up on the sidewalk and people are laying around and other people are rushing to help and all the policemen started coming."

Police say the teen hit a vehicle pulling out of a parking lot, which caused the 2001 Mustang to lose control, drive onto the sidewalk and hit the people.

The crash resulted in no fatalities, but several people suffered serious injuries.

The teen is charged with careless and imprudent driving and second-degree assault.
