CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The mayor of Charlotte told CNN that Hillary Clinton should delay her visit to the Queen City on Sunday and let the city get back to normalcy.

Mayor Jennifer Roberts is asking Hillary Clinton to delay her trip to Charlotte on Sunday.

Mayor Roberts on CNN said she would prefer Clinton delay the planned trip to not stress security resources.

Roberts also said Donald Trump was planning a visit to the Queen City later next week.

Thursday was the third night of protests in Charlotte over the police shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott, who was killed by an officer Tuesday at an apartment in the city.

On Wednesday, the protests turned into riots and at least four officers suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. One person was left on life support after getting shot by another civilian. That person later died.

Gov. Pat McCrory declared a state of emergency and said he would deploy the state National Guard and highway patrol to Charlotte.
